Surfers In Tsunami Territory

The sun did something to my camera, it was a really sunny day, but these pictures almost turned out black and white...

It was really cold outside, we were surprised there was anyone surfing. Just this pair were out there in the sea.

The rocks off the coast were incredible, they are so jagged, they look fake.

It reminds me of the Goonies movie, the sea looked just like it did here, it was trippy, for sure!
Beautiful, isn't it?

The look of the ocean is surreal and then you see the sign below:

What?!? This is Ferndale, Ca. It is 10 miles south of Eureka. The elevation here is 36 feet above sea level. We were about 2 miles from the ocean, leaving when we saw this sign! Wouldn't that be scary posted in your hometown?

In the background you can see the mountains of huge redwoods that come down to the ocean, not right on shore here, but 100 feet away. It was a cool sea shore! No shells, though.

Happy Halloween! Hee Hee Hee ...

Happy Halloween To All!

Going To The Redwoods

As you can see from how I look, it is early. Just as the sun comes up, "here comes the sun, by the beatles, plays on the radio"...Here I go, documenting this 48 hour adventure of ours. Sometimes, I wonder how we get into these things. It is 289 miles each way, it is Friday am and on Sunday, same time, we will be on our way home. Crazy it is!

The sun came up a couple of hours into our drive Friday morning, you know Matt. It was early...

Clear Lake is the biggest Lake I have ever seen, it was huge. Highway 20 runs along it for miles and miles. I don't remember it being that big.

Willits, is definately the Gateway to the Redwoods. The trees from this point up to Arcata, are the hugest trees I have ever seen. Everywhere, Giagantic Trees for hundreds of miles. It was breathtaking for sure.

This is such an old school town, it could be Anytown USA, totally Americana, super Norman Rockwell...But then all the towns up North from us are kind of just like our Nevada County. Except that North of us, is sooooo podockville. Wow, I thought we lived rurally. No we do not, north is so much smaller. Beautiful, but I am sooo happy where I live!

What an experience it was, driving through the redwoods, it was really a long ways, or so it seemed driving, winding, up and down. We stopped in Leggett Ca where the drive through tree is. We checked out the Ocean way up North, and ended it with a Rave, yes a Rave, Saturday night. Most of our friends did not show, but their kids did...Wow, what an eye opening experience. The music was so loud, the door jams and walls, were vibrating in the room we were in. ALL NIGHT LONG! I have so many pictures, I will post in the next week, some of the video is definately RAW, but gives you a feel for what we did, birds eye view...

Headed For Hydesville

Tomorrow morning (if I know Matt is will be early) we are driving to Hydesville, Ca. It is 289 miles northwest of here. We will take Hwy 20 through Clearlake (we went there when we were kids, there was absoultely nothing clear about it! Anyways, 20 goes for about 97 miles until you get to the 101.. Then it is a little under 200 miles from there. We will go through the Redwood Forest, close by the Ocean. It is supposed to be a clear and crisp day tomorrow, so I will take plenty of pictures. I am going to make sandwiches so we can stop and picnic on the way. There is a little bit smaller of a Gafbo going on Friday and Saturday, so it should be fun. No kids ! I will post the pictures Sunday or Monday so all can also enjoy the scenery.

Love to everyone and have a nice weekend. The parking lot I was in today had several colors of trees, sorry about the cars, but you get the idea. It was 37 this morning, so things will start to change fast from here on. Had to light the fire last night too!
Pretty aren't they, next to the pines!

Old Pictures

I was going through my pictures this morning and found this one. It was nearly two years ago. Look how happy mom and dad look visiting with Connor. And look at little tia...
Another older picture of Connor....and here is a newer one...

Wow, hasn't he grown sooo much in the past two years...

Beans and Trees

Our first home grown veggies, these are some seriously gigantic radishes. And our snap beans are a new variety, there are green, yellow, and purple. We steamed them last night, they were great!

I had to go to the laundermat today, I passed this house, and could not resist the picture. The colors are crazy...Such a pretty time of the year.

The Back Yard

Our house is a little lower elevation than Nevada City, so our trees are taking a little longer to change colors. As you can see, it is starting. So many in Nevada City are already changed to a bright red, it is an awsome display of color. I wish everyone could see how cool it is.
The rains that we got a few weeks ago really greened up the yard. It looks like we have three acres of turf. Thank God Matt doesn't have to mow it.

The Garden also has gone crazy, there is broccoli and cauliflower, carrots and peas, lettuce and onions. I cannot wait until we can start picking.

Even the shrubs down in the back yard have gotten greener and taller, the shrubs to the right are taller than me by about two feet.

Connor The Chugger

Connor's favorite cartoon is the Chuggingtons...they are trains that talk and get into all kinds of little escapades. He wanted to be "Wilson", So of course my smart daughter, found him one. After he tried it on we figured out how to make the costume stick out like a train. So you will see the finished product on Halloween when Crystal posts the pictures of her little guys. Grady is going to be a Chili Pepper...How cute will they be?

Mimi and Baby Grady

Mimi is definately looking old in these pictures, holy moly!

Look at this peaceful little angel sleeping. It is amazing to hold a little one again. I do so love it.

Games For Connor

Connor played as many games as James and Crystal could fit in for him before the Performance happened!

Connor Playing Carnival Games

Connor was not sure that he like all this Chaos, but he tried to play the games anyways with Dad. All the kids got some kind of treat or bobble for playing the games.

The Carnival

Heather and Connor standing outside the Preschool before we went into the Carnival/Performance...

Crystal, James, Connor, and Grady in front of the "40th Year" Sign. Where by the way were another atleast 400-500 people inside.

Crystal had Grady hooked in front of her, and it was a good thing as you can see from all of the people. It was just a little bit of craziness.

It looked kind of like a middle school dance room, they had all kinds of games for the kids before the performance. A performance I did not see because there were so many parents crowding the room.

From The Foothills back to Fairfield

Tomorrow I am going back to Fairfield, to Crystals. Connor has his first Preschool presentation! Can you believe how young it starts now. It was hard enough when they were in Kindergarten at 5 or 6 and started shows...Connor is 2-1/2!  This I cannot wait to see, I will try to video and post it Saturday when I get back.  I can also hardly wait to hold that adorable, little itsy bitsy baby as Connor calls him!

Getting To Crystal's Wednesday

Driving to Crystal's House.

My Connor Angel Baby.

My Grady Baby Angel

Me and My Angels!!!

Connor

Connor is telling  his mommy that  he wants to go to the grocery store, and to Starbuck's for a treat! Again, bear with the filming, it is not the greatest, but he is getting his point across to his mommy!

Grady Turns One Month Old

Grady is already one month old, wow time goes by so fast.

Check out the devilish look on Connor's face...It was soooo hard for me not to laugh, everytime he did something cooky!

Crystal and Her Little Angels

Crystal pretending she is not exhausted every minute of every day...

Connor in his big brother tee shirt, helping cook!

Connor and Mimi

Connor was telling me about preschool, so I started filming him, after I started to talk about it he stopped... The video is kind of grainy, but the jist of it is adorable. He is turning into quite the stunt man! And very busy...Crystal has a very busy household. I give my daughter a lot of kudos for being such a great mom!

With little or no sleep, she runs her household very well...She does not have a minute of peace. I am very proud of the mom she has become.

Heading Home To The Foothills

As I left Crystal's on Saturday, the sky was absolutely beautiful...I was so exhausted, raising two little children is definately a young people's game. I so enjoyed the time I was able to spend with the boys and Crystal and James, It makes me feel old, how sore I am.

Mimi's Going To Visit Connor and Grady

I am leaving this morning to go and visit with Crystal and the boys for a few days. I cant wait! It seems like it has been forever since I have seen them.

I will post new pictures when I get back on Saturday. Hope everyone has a great few days.

Not Counterfiet

So Matt took the $100 bill to the bank yesterday and they checked and checked and it was not counterfiet...Crazy! So Matt got 5 20's for the landlord instead of the $100 bill.

That scare was just what we needed, nothing like being worried about how to replace $100 for 5 days. Thank God it was real.

A Beautiful Day

Mom and Dad's Anniversary

Happy 56th Anniversary Mom and Dad!!! Hope you had a great day...I know it is a strange way to send a card, but hey I missed the mail. Love you guys very much!

Rain and Cold make Color

After several days of rain and cold weather, the maples in our yard are starting to turn colors. I imagine in the next few weeks, all the trees will have that beautiful fall color. I will show you as it happens.

This is a big Maple in our driveway, I will take pictures as it changes. That is one of things I like most about Nevada County is the definate Seasonal changes.

Counterfiet Money ?!!!

OMG! So every month on the 1st of the month, Matt gets paid in cash. So we always pay our rent in cash, its easy, no hassle.

So I am at a friends today and my phone rings, its my landlord, (which always freaks me out, Im not sure why) telling me not to freak out, but her husband was in Reno today, shopping. One of the $100 bills we gave them was: YES   COUNTERFIET!

The banks are closed until Tuesday for Columbus Day in Grass Valley, and Indigenous Peoples Day in Nevada City...Talk about diversity. Anyway, yes we are liable for the $100, and no, we do not know what will happen you yet...

I will keep you posted!
