Blue Moon Tonight

I love this saying, I posted it on my facebook page, and had Aunt Judy repost it. Great Words!

The Blue Moon tonight will be the last one seen until 2015. I love this picture it looks surreal!

Suzanne

I finally got up enough courage to text my friend Suzanne. I told her I was worried about what I had heard about her having lymphoma...eventually she sent me back a message on facebook saying she was sorry I was worried, but she is fine?!
So, Felecia was lying?, I thought?
Hmmmmm!
I hope it is the truth, but I will keep praying for her just in case!

Praying

It has been two months since Matt has been working at the nursery and we are seriously behind in all of our bills. When you go from $35.00/hr to $12.00/hr, you take a punch. Or rather our finances are punchy.
It would be so nice if we could pay all our bills, and rent, and still buy food in the same month. So our mantra is PRAY, PRAY, AND PRAY AGAIN.
Please pray for us too! We need all the help we can get.
Our prayers are always answered, we just need them answered now.

One Tomato, Two Tomato, Three Tomato, MORE...

Not as much squash as I thought there would be after days of not picking.

I picked so many tomatoes yesterday, tomatillos, and peppers galore. I spent yesterday baking the squash and eggplant and peppers to freeze.
Today I am going to can all the tomatoes into different sauces, and I am going to make Double Lemon Marmalade with my Lemon Balm that needs to be trimmed today.
It is going to be a long day, I can see that. I better go to the gym and swim this morning before I get started.

Good To Be Home

After 5 days of camping we are Home. YES! It was fun, but I was ready to come home yesterday. So now begins the real fun.
Here are some really quick pictures to describe the trip.

Kitchen is almost set up. We had 20 people in Campsite 2.

The water was really down this year, so our tent was able to fit right into the trees, sure made it cooler in the tent.

You can see how far the water is down, it is usally a foot in front of our tent.

We had a view of the lake in front of the tent, in back of the tent, and out of each window.

It was really pretty, the temperature was about 75/80 in the daytime, and about 40 at night. It was a nice change from the 100 degree weather we had the last couple weeks.

Adding more and more to the kitchen. It was pretty organized by the time all 20 fit into Campsite 2. There are 10 Campsites and most hold 10 to 20 tents.

Matt is definately ready to go Float Tubing to fish. The lake is so clear you can see the trees in the water.

The moon was really bright for only Crescent.

Sunrise was always pretty. We went Wednesday night so we saw several sunrises and sunsets.

He decided it was too windy for float tubing...so by the water he sat, and sat, and sat.
Matt and Ryan went out on the boat to fish, they tried all ways of fishing. One person out of 84 people caught a fish. It was so unusual, usually there is a tournament.

Sunsets were absolutely beautiful.

Super cool campsites. Ours is right on the water.

Clouds rolled though in the days with crazy wind, but it was nice other than that. So nice up at 7000 feet elevation.

All in all it was a pretty good camping trip. This morning I was feeling as CAMPY as I ever want to feel. We packed up after a full night of fun, food, and killer music, and went to water at the nursery. Then got home to water all of our screaming plants and veggies, and are now doing other chores.
It always seems like the unpacking is so much harder than the rest of the trip!

Kidd Lake

I will be out of commission for a few days, going to Gafbo at Kidd Lake. Should be about 100 or more of us. Hopefully the weather will be wonderful, and the water warm.

I will take lots of pictures and when I get home on Sunday I will post them, so you can enjoy them too!

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!

Love to all!

Destiny

Destiny is an interesting thing to think about. I used to believe that your destiny was set in stone. That is so completely untrue!
You can reinvent your own destiny everyday, if that is what you want. What is cool is that whatever you want in this life, you can achieve, if you try, and try hard!

August Again

So August roles around again, and it is time for the Kidd Lake Gafbo. I swore up and down last year that I would never go again. Then I remembered the fun parts of the trip and remembered that "I have the best time when out of my comfort zone"!
Atleast this year, there is no Briana going. What a disaster that was last year. It is hard for me to believe that it is already August again. This year has gone by so fast, it is scary.
This year we are going on Thursday and coming home on Sunday. It is supposed to be in the 80s up there this weekend. It is up at about 6000 or 7000 feet elevation. It is a private PGE lake and we rent the entire thing.
Hopefully it will be more restful this year than it was last year. Last year the young ones (the 20 and 30 year olds) Reggaed all night long. All night long.
We oldies woke up to a serious beat the next morning. The water is a great temperature for swimming. I have most of the food ready to go already. Looking forward to spending some quality time with Matt. Since he started working for Ronny, he works 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. That leaves little time for us. So we are looking forward to the down time.

Tomatoes, Tomatoes, and More Tomatoes

I canned 2 jars of Salsa Verde, 2 jars of Heirloom Tomato sauce, 4 +2 little jars of Cherry Tomato sauce, 2 + 1 jar of Black Cherry Tomato sauce, 1 jar of Roma Tomato and Basil sauce, 4 Early Girl Tomato sauce.  Wow that took me 8 hours between picking, cleaning, chopping, cooking, and then canning.
Yesterday, I did 12 pints of Salsa Verde and Regular Salsa.
I was a cooking fool this weekend.

We have so many kinds of tomatoes, I can hardly remember them all. These are Pear in the back, Black Krim to the right, and Heirloom in front.

These are Cherry and Black Cherry Tomatoes. The Black Cherry are a little sweeter.

These are Romas, it took all of these two make one jar of sauce.

Beef Steak and Jalapenos on the way to canning.

Heirloom Tomatoes.

Grape Tomatoes.
At least we will have many varieties of sauces for the Winter. It is certainly better than dozens of the same kind of sauces. Right?

Cloudy Morning

Beautiful clouds this morning to wake up to. It rained last night with the Thunder Storms, but not enough to cool anything down. It is still in the high 90s.
I love to wake up to such pretty skies.

I went to Graeagle for a couple days on Wednesday, it was so smoky over there from three different Forest Fires.

You can see how smoky it was.

Graeagle is only 5 miles from Grass Valley, and it was quite a bit cooler up at 5000 ft elevation. It was nice to get away for a couple days. From Leanne's deck, there is a beautiful view of the 18th hole of Plumas Pines Golf Course.

This was probably the best place I could have been stopped for Road Construction. Atleast the Yuba River was on the right, and beautiful Waterfalls on the left.

Fair Ribbons

Matt was super proud when he brought these ribbons home last night. He never expected to win anything, much less this many ribbons. He already has plans for next years entries...

Ribbons

The Fair is over and today after work Matt will go get the Ribbons.
He is so jazzed. Ronnie, the owner of the Farm Supply and the Nursery are going to use Matt and his ribbons to advertise his products in the newspaper.
So when that happens I will be sure and post the ad.

Saturday

5:45 AM, OMG, our air conditioning was on all night long...no whole house fan last night, as you can see it did not even cool down 20 degrees last night.

2:00 PM wow, I am in the house canning Tomatoe Basil Jam, and Grape Jalapeno Jelly.

It's Soooo Hot

This is the themometer outside!

This is inside the kitchen, after the air has been on all day set at 75 degrees.
The crazy thing is it is going to be hotter tomorrow!

And they say the Sun's Solar Storms are not effecting us!
Right!

Fair Night

The Nevada County Fairgrounds is voted the prettiest Fair in California, for good reason. It was super fun last night. Tomorrow night we are going to go see the Bull Riding. Yeehaw!

Woo Hoo Winners!

I thought I got pictures of all of our winners, but I didn't. We won 11 out of the 15 categories we entered.
I wish you could have seen Matt's face, especially when we got 1st place for tomatoes.
That is a really hard thing to do in this county.
It was exciting and well worth all the stress about hoping and praying they would be done in time. The tomatoes literally ripened over night before the judging!
WOO HOO CONGRATS TO MATT!
Be Courageous, Follow Your Heart
