I am just about finished painting.

I am happy with how the painting came out.

It makes such a difference, plus because it is outdoor paint, it is weatherproofing all of my furniture.

This is the old table Matt found outside mom and dad's gate a few years ago.You would never know it was the same table, right?

Now it is time to do the cushions. I finally found a pattern that would work. It sound so easy, but without a pattern you become lost as where to start.

We have always had a GAFBO flag, and it has been missing for 10 years, on our watch. So after hearing for the last two years about it, I decided to add it to my list of projects.

I bought a piece of navy felt, a see=through black glittery piece of fabric. I bought sheets of foam, and started to cut. 20 11x11 sheets, and 50 little sheets later, this is what I came up with. I will show you after I sew it. I just layed it out to see if I like it. I think it came out pretty cool.

Wow, right? Need I say more? Holy moly, I am not sure which one of us is more interesting to see. Matt the boyscout or Sue (?) I look like like a biker chick! What a blast from the past.

Our Wonderful Sunday

James, Crystal, and the boys came over on Sunday. We played, bbq'd, and they spent the night for the first time with Grady.

Stop & Smell The Roses

Little things like seeing this hummy do might heart good. I try to remind myself to always 'stop and smell the roses'. To stop and see the humingbirds feed is such a beautiful thing to experience. But we have to STOP to see it!

Annular Lunar Eclipse

We have been hearing about the lunar eclipse all week long. We saw on the news that it had started at 5:15 this evening. It was so bright we could not look at it at all.

The weather guy came on the news and told people that the sun would come through the leaves of trees, and show the eclipse on the ground.

OMG...we have so many trees this is what it looked like. We were amazed and in awe.

Neither of us has ever seen anything like this.

Everywhere where there were leaves there were littl eclipses. They were on the screen door, on the walls, on the ground, on the cars, everywhere for about 1/2 an hour.

It was so incredible it was hard to believe these pictures are of the eclipse.

So crazy right?

Thank goodness the weather guy is so smart! We would have completely missed it otherwise.

My Next Project

I decided on this Outdoor Fabric for my new patio project. I am going to paint the furniture black, and sew pads and a couch cover with this. I like it alot, and think with the black paint it will be pretty cool. Now let's hope the fabric comes soon, so that this will be done before our June 23 party. The fabric is waterproof stainproof, and all kinds of proofs. I m taking on something I have never done before. I love a good challenge!

My Mother's Day Card

Is this just the most precious Mother's Day card any mom could ask for? Crystal is so creative, for most of our birthdays or other events, she makes us gifts with pictures of the boys...We love it!

Happy Anniversary Crystal and James

Today is also Crystal and James Anniversary.  Happy Day to you two. This is also the anniversary of their first date. It is also Matt and I's anniversary of our first date, I am not sure that you remember, but Matt and I's first date was the same as James and Crystal, exactly the same, same night, same year! Wierd, right. A day we will always celebrate together in heart.

One Last Hurrah

We went to see the 'women of rock' last night. Three women that we know and their band, played killer rock songs of the women in rock. Pat Benetar, Joan Jett, Janis Joplin,etc. it was great. Lots of fun.

It was nice to go out last night, it will be the last for me for awhile.

Ok, this is my bench, loveseat, and tables. I am going to redo these while I am on the mend from the chemo cream.

I bought black outdoor paint to do the tables, and wood box. I ordered some outdoor 'blue patagonia' fabric to do all of my chair pads, make a new cover for the couch, and make pads for the bench and woodbox. I am going to make a bench out of the woodbox.

I have been gathering projects so that I can occupy myself at home for the several weeks it will take for the creme to work.

Hopefully, my re-decorating and body will be in shape for our big Anniversary shindig June 23. We have several people coming from other states and out of town, too many to cancel. We have 4 bands and we will bbq. So the outdoors looking cool is my priority for the next few weeks.

Nate Berkus on TV gave me the idea of doing backyard furniture with everyday wooden furniture. Treat it with outdoor paint and it will last...

It would have been great if I had learned this years ago, it might have let me understand people better. But it is always the way, the insight is always later in life.

Changes

I was so worried yesterday morning by the time I got to the doctor I was shaking and sick to my stomach. I got in the room, the nurse brought in all the instruments to cut me open, yikes...then the doctor came in. He looked at my chest and said, "I am not going to put a 3 inch cut on your chest, (I am thinking, yeah let's not) I am going to scrape several layers of skin down, and then you can treat it with the chemo cream." I couldn't believe it, I was absolutely relieved. He said that by exposing the cancer, the cream would treat it, without cutting me. Wow, I have never had a doctor try to save you from a terrible scar.

I have to try to remember in times like these to change the way I look at things...sounds good anyways!

So today it is terribly sore, and raw, but not an open wound. I should be getting the cream soon, and then I will look like leprosy. The nurse told me to think of it as a really good chemical peel!

Hmmmmm!

Anyways, trying to change the way you look at things, is a good idea!

Keep Calm

I have been telling mysef for days, BE CALM! It doesn't always work! I did not sleep a wink last night. I know this is not a big thing, but it is on my chest where everyone can see...I think the big thing is that the C word is so scary, it makes me think of the one's gone from it.

Hopefully, this is no big deal. I will let everyone know, later this am how it went.

Be Who You Are

I love this saying...Tomorrow is my surgery, I think, so the recovery period will be perfect to finish up that book I started. So stay tuned and I will post the draft in the following weeks. Hope there is still some interest in it. Too bad this poster wasn't around when I was trying to be me!
