Leap Day and Snowing

It rained all night long, the chimes all around the house rang out all night long...This morning it continued to rain until about 15 minutes ago. Now it is really snowing here at 2100 elevation, I can only imagine what Donner Pass looks like. This morning it was a blizzard up there this morning. Matt went up to Amarals at 3100 ft and it had about 8 inches and was still snowing. He was just getting ready to come back down the hill. What a mixed bag it is today. I am so glad I decided not to go out today!

Stay Warm Today...

Tuesday Morning

I have had a cold or allergies or something for a couple of days now. Do not know how I got it, but it is a dragging feeling.
I saw on the news this morning that it snowed in San Diego, maybe mom and dad got some too. We are expecting low snow tonight at 2000 ft elevation. We live a 2100 ft, so it will be interesting to see what happens. It is really cold enough that is for sure.
Matt was snowed out yesterday, he had to leave Amarals early.

Mimi and Grady

Grady was super tired, so I thoroughly enjoyed holding him as long as he needed it...

He did sleep in my arms for about 30 or so minutes...

Such precious little angels they are to me!

Connor's 3rd Birthday Party

Connor's party was a "Kids Gone Wild" it was a bouncy place, all kinds of bounciness!

There were about 20 kids and 20 adults, it was great, Matt enjoying the kids enjoying...

Connor talked both Heather and I into going on the big slide, big and steep it was, Heather looks like a child at the bottom of it! You can see how big it was, the 3 year olds were having a lot of fun on it...We did too!

Matt watching sports on the TV, Heather and Crystal's longtime friend Michelle.

Getting The Garden Ready

Now that the trees are fallen, we can expand the garden out towards the left...Yes, we do need more room!

Matt brought home some mushroom compost, and other ingredients to till into the existing garden. The landlord will come over next week and rip the ground to the left of the garden with his tractor. That way Matt can till it up, and fence it in before it is planting season.

Weekend Again

Nothing much new here...Matt is hydroseeding today and working on a side job tomorrow. I think we will just have a quiet weekend. Sunday we will go to Connor's birthday party.

All week I have been trying to get our home phone disconnected. It doesn't seem to work in any plug in any room. We have been paying for it for about 9 months and used it probably 10 times.

Believe it or not, AT&T does not want you to disconnect...It took me 4 days, 6 hours, and 4 people to disconnect the phone, and have only internet?! OMG they even told me they would send a technician out to fix my lines, free, if I would keep the phone. Wow, finally yesterday after 1-1/2 hours I got them to cancel my phone. What a racket!

So today I am off to the gym for auqa aerobics for an hour, and then an hour of free swim. I missed it yesterday because of being on the phone with AT&T for so long.

Have a good Friday all!

Thursday

This week has gone by so fast, I have been going to the gym to do water aerobics at 9:00 each morning. It is amazing how good I feel, what a difference 3 weeks makes.

Matt has been doing a side job for the Amarals, and all in all it has been a pretty good week. A guy who owed us money for 3 years paid this week!? Wow, now all our bills are paid. YEAH!

We are going to Connor's 3rd Birthday party this weekend, it is on Sunday. He is all into Cars the Movie, so we got him a little Cars pup tent, and Cars slippers, he will love them. The last tent we got him was a ball tent, you know with little balls in it. He loved it and it lasted for quite a while. So hopefully he will love this as much.

Have a good Thursday everyone!!!

Mardi Gras Beads

Pretty cool huh? These are mine, it looks like a lot more when they are laying down...and let me tell you how hard it really is to catch them from driving vehicles!

These are Matts

Mine!

Today

It was so gorgeous this morning, all lit up..

Even the deer were checking it out early!

Saturday's Storm

When it storms here, the clouds are so beautiful with the pines...

Monday Again

I cannot believe another week has gone by. Last week I had so much going on. Then computer issues. Sorry it was so quiet.

I will get back to it now.

Yesterday we went to the Mardi Gras parade and festival in Nevada City. It was incredibly cool. It lasted for over an hour and a half. We had some friends from Graeagle with us.

We all caught the same amount of beads, if you can believe that. Leanne, Matt, and Myself, got 23 strands of  colorful beads. Every color of the rainbow. It was wierd that we all got the same amount.

It was fun, yesterday was one of the only days you can drink in public in Nevada City, so as you can imagine it was quite a site.

I think I got a picture or two on my phone. I will see it I can send it to myself.

Monday Morning

It rained all night, last night. I love listening to the sound of rain, it is so soothing. And of course the chimes, chime too. The news said this morning that the snow came down to 2500 feet. Thank God we live at 2100ft. Finally the Sierra Mountains will have some much needed snow.

Last week I started swimming at one of the local Healthclubs. I love it! My bones already feel better. At 9 AM I take an Auqa Aerobics class. It is an hour long, and intense. I did not know you could actually sweat in water. You can! Anyway, the owner of the health club gave me a 2 week free pass to try it out. You can't beat the small town feel of Nevada County, it is so different than big cities. Just goes to show there is still a little bit of small town america, here!

Happy Monday

Trees Down Sunset On

I was always thrilled with the sunsets that we had here, but now with those pines gone, OMG!

Now the view is so spectacular...

Amazing, isn't it...we were as surprised as the deer at the differences!

Deer

Even the deer noticed that there was a huge difference in the backyard.

They gathered and just kept looking at the downed trees, like what in the $#!@ happened here!

Even the buck was scoping it out...

Timberrrrrrrrrr

Finally, after over an hour to limb, prep, and finally fall this tree...so you can imagine how long it took to do all 6. This was the biggest tree, it had two huge sides to it. The others were not near as big...all in all it was an all day job, and still there is tons of brush, rounds, and other timber to deal with!
We have no worries about wood next year!

Roping The Tree Off

After getting the branches cut, which by the way are like 10 to 15 feet long, they roped the tree and tied it off to the tractor on the other side of the yard. Then they yanked on the rope with the tractor, sawing with the chainsaw at the same time...
Uh oh, the tree won't fall in the right place, need to adjust, the landlord screams!?

Standing In The Bucket

After the boys figured out their strategy, someone had to get up in the tractor bucket in order to pole saw the branches down, before they could fall the tree...Matt was the only candidate! This pole saw is like a weedeater on speed, huge engine, and heavy! He is up in the air quite a ways!

Falling The Digger Pines

Matt, Kevin, and the Landlord fell about 6 digger pines in the backyard. They were blocking the sunlight from our garden, and they were old and dangerous trees...

You can see how tall these trees used to be.

Matt looks so small compared to that huge pine next to him, this was after they fell half of it!

The Moon This Morning

The moon was so bright this morning...from 3:30am until I finally got up at 5:30, the moon was shining in our bedroom and bathroom windows so brightly, it looked like we had slept in! But of course we did not, with the trees gone in the back yard it opened up so much. Pretty cool looking, though.

Woodpecker

Yesterday Matt, Kevin, and the landlord fell a bunch of pine trees in the backyard.
All the while they were chainsawing, this woodpecker kept pecking...he was not the least bit concerned that his tree might be the next?!
It was hilarious for me.

Burn Day

One really cool thing about living where we do, is burn days...Burning all the brush and debris from jobs and the yard.

The master burner is at the helm!

The Long Long Trailer

Dennis, the trailer mover, is an amazing artist when it comes to getting this trailer in and out of places. He has moved it three times since we have been in charge of it...

He has this unbelievable truck to pull it. That makes it a little bit easier than dad's suburban.

It is huge!

And away it is going...I heard from dad yesterday, and Dennis made it late afternoon, after going through rain from Sacramento through the Grapevine and finally to Dad's. I feel better now the Prowler is safe at home. It has been traveling for almost two years!

Prowler On It's Way

I was filming Dennis taking dad's trailer away, when all of a sudden it sounded like a plane was crashing...Not crashing, just landing on the runway across the street from our house. The planes do this all day, I have never been able to film one though, they are usually too fast. This was a perfect picture catching the plane too!

Prowler Taking A Trip

And the cover is off! Dad called the other day to say that the Prowler is being moved back to Riverside. Off the cover came. I will make sure it is stabilized inside, and I believe the driver will be here tomorrow to pick it up. Since a year ago this month, this trailer has moved from Lake of the Springs, to Nevada City, to Grass Valley, and back to Riverside. This trailer has traveled quite a bit in a year. More than in the whole 12 years mom and dad have had it. It is like brand new inside still.

Hummies

Even the hummies do not know what to think with this weather. A couple of weeks ago they were hummin around all day, every day, so I had Matt dig out some feeders. Unbelievable in February to see them. They are so fast and they are right on our deck, so seeing them up close is cool, but I could never get a shot until now. You can, see how fast they literally are. The first picture is blurry because he was moving so fast. We have a pair, the red head is the male. The female is even more frisky than the male is. Stands to reason, right?!
Anyway, I thought I would share this pix with you. Check out the wings!

Dad

We got quite a scare yesterday, when we found out dad was in he hospital. He had some pains on Wednesday night, so he went to Loma Linda. They ran a few tests, and sent him home.

Hopefully all will be well.

To Dad:  I live so far away dad, if you do not let me know when something is wrong, there might be a chance I won't make it in time. Every minute counts when you are 500 miles away. Please remember I would rather know what's going on up front, than to be in the dark about health issues.

Love you

The Wall

Well I was able to hide the horrible wall. It was quite a huge deal. The adhesives went on each corner of the frame. In order to hide all that mess, I had to be quite creative with the placement of the frames.
What did I learn from this? NO ADHESIVES.

Rain Brings Green

The moss is soooo bright lime green when it rains! It is always so shocking to me how green it really is. Our whole yard is full of these green moss rocks. Pretty cool.

Laundry Room

I did get my laundry room all straightened out. I got these cool bins from the dollar store. They hold everything in and it actually looks pretty cool.

The Wall

When I woke yesterday morning, my newly put up wall looked like this....

By the end of the day it looked like this...Yikes! I think it did not hold because of the heat from the woodstove. So today I guess I will be nailing them back up. Good try, stupid outcome!

Raining Today

It poured all night long, the wind blew, the chimes chimed, it was a restless night...This morning it is still raining. Yesterday I hung some of our 'concert memorabilia' in the living room. I thought I would be smart and use the adhesive stips instead of nails. Right, they went up great. And they came down with a crash, boom, and a loud bang in the middle of the night.

I was going to post the before and after shots, but my camera just died. I will post them later today. And now I am off to clean up the glass, the walls (where the adhesive took off not just the paint, but some drywall too) and the carpet.

Great Idea Sue!
